Discussion Questions:
<
1. Alice Wong is a very prominent Disability advocate. Do you think her words “Disabled people are not acceptable collateral damage in this pandemic” will change anyone’s (usually very strong) opinions on vaccines / mask mandates etc…Will people even hear or understand her perspective?
<
<
2. While remote learning was a good thing for some students, many students with disabilities did not do as well with virtual learning and the changes to the supports provided. Given everything that schools had to deal with (and still must deal with) immediately and unexpectedly – what lessons do you think have been learned, and what lessons still need to be learned? With an educational philosophy of “no child left behind”, how are we doing with that?

3. “Long Covid” is a very new concept, and we honestly do not know how long it may last, and it may last a lifetime in some people. Many people agree that government disability benefits are a hot mess already, but with the addition of perhaps tens of thousands of new people eligible for these benefits how do you think this may change the already broken system. For the better or for the worse? How do you think it should change? Put more than one perspective in your answer.
